Endowed Chair of Ecological Theology

Ecological issues deserve more attention in the Dutch academic theological world. That is why the Martine Vonk Foundation, in collaboration with the Theological University of Kampen-Utrecht, has taken the initiative to set up an endowed chair in Ecological Theology. A minor in ecological theology has already been developed at this university. A chair will help and deepen this reflection.

The professor by special appointment of Ecological Theology is tasked with theologically thinking through issues surrounding ecology and justice and sharing them with a wide audience. The role and task of the professor is also to inspire and equip students and ministers. In this way, the chair wants to contribute to knowledge of and insight into 'the green heart of faith'.

The professor must be someone who knows how to find the way to the churches and Christians and who knows how to present research results in such a way that they are understandable to everyone. It should be research into what really helps us in the field.

"It is necessary to keep asking questions such as: what is our broader vision, who are the people concerned and what is the quality of life like?"
